For writing workshop, we will be using the metaphor of movie-making or digital storytelling as a way of exploring the techniques, composition, and idea development in writing an essay. By breaking down the creative process used by filmmakers, we apply some of the same techniques to academic writing. Our online resource, the wiki, is a place where you can find tools, writing guides and prompts, and feedback on your writing.
Our wiki is divided into the following sections:
Activities and resources to help you with your writing process
**“The Craft”** – a page of writing exercises and tools for using digital storytelling techniques.
“The Composition”– a page where you can explore different types of essays. You will experiment with each one of these before you settle on one to develop into a finished piece.
“Story Development”- a page of exercises for finding and developing your ideas
"Agenda" - If you need a step-by-step approach, follow the agenda.
"First Lines" - After reading your drafts, check here for my favorite lines I want you to start with on your Take 2.
"That's a Wrap!" You'll publish the digital renditions of your personal essays here
